Kodi 14.0 "Helix" Beta soon going to arrive with New Features & Minor Fixes
XBMC and Kodi project developers officially announces that first beta version of Kodi 14.0 codenamed "Helix" soon going to available for download. Since the previous fourth alpha release of Kodi 14.0 "Helix" the developers consistently making some changes and improvements before the final beta released. The developers already freezes the features of beta release but they still find something important which they want to introduce in this release.
According to official announcement, the first beta release of Kodi 14.0 "Helix" comes with support for Localised keyboard along with faster channel switching for PVR. The Kodi 14.0 Beta for Windows also receives DXVA-HQ scaling for videos. Well this feature might cause some issues for certain video cards, so for better safety you could enable this via advancedsettings.xml file.
The Kodi 14.0 "Helix" beta release also includes addition of MMAL decoder and MMAL renderer for Raspberry Pi along with Raspberry Pi audio resampling which supports high quality re-sampling, format conversation and up/down mixing. Some of the improvements are made in file handling system which mainly done for better stability and possible error handling.
Among other features, this beta release of Kodi 14.0 also includes dolby atmos surround sound, extends JSON-RPC, update Windows power management functions and fixes iOS 8 runtime issues. This release also includes several bug fixes like fixed T9/SMS text input, fixed non loading of external subtitles for ISO files and BluRay directories and fix for importing some add-on modules that depended on other modules. Kodi 14.0 "Helix" RC3 released with FFmpeg 2.4.4, New Kodi Logo & Other Fixes
Kodi developers officially announces the release of third release candidate of Kodi 14.0 "Helix" Media Center with new changes and fixes. Well the developers continously planning to release more candidate versions of Kodi 14.0 series so that they would get as much as feedbacks from users to enhance the functionality of Kodi 14.0.
According to official announcement, Kodi 14.0 "Helix" RC3 comes with updated FFmpeg 2.4.4 and uses correct art type when appending art to item lists along with updated GUI translation files. Apart from these minor new changes, this release also includes several bugfixes like fixed recording history issue in PVR and fixed PVR preview video scaling for AMLCodec on Android.
This release also fixes problem with setting content on new and existing video sources, fixes spinner in video settings for choosing hardware or software decoding, fixes restart option on Win 8.1, fixes crashes on certain Intel GPU when playing video, fixes crashes on certain videos on Android 5.0 devices and fixes LPCM streaming via UPnP. Kodi 14.0 "Helix" Alpha 4 released with Bluray Menus & Sub Channels in PVR
The developers of Kodi project officially announces the release of fourth alpha release of Kodi 14.0 codenamed "Helix" with a focus on stability and user friendliness. Well according to changelog, around 117 changes are made in this alpha release. As you know that Kodi project is maintained by XBMC developers.
According to official announcement, Kodi 14.0 "Helix" Alpha 4 comes with two major new changes which includes replace Touch skin with re-Touched along with moving userdata for Windows users. The re-Touched skin only affects iOS and Android enabled devices. The re-Touched skin is slightly redesigned Touch skin with different home screen layout and various tweaks in few areas.
This alpha also includes some code changes because of name changes in some places. Due to this your personal userdata folder will be moved to a new location. This will either be done at install time or initial run. This just means the location of the files that hold your library and settings will be moved. No data will be lost during this transition.
