Kubuntu 14.10 Beta 2 "Utopic Unicorn" released with Plasma 5 Preview & KDE 4.14


Kubuntu developers officially announces the release of Kubuntu 14.10 Beta 2 "Utopic Unicorn" with final build of KDE 4.14 along with Plasma 5 and Plasma 4 desktop. Well if you compare this beta release with beta 1 then you won't find much difference between them. The only advantage of getting Kubuntu 14.10 beta 2 "Utopic Unicorn" is to access Plasma 5 desktop preview.

According to official announcement, Kubuntu 14.10 Beta 2 "Utopic Unicorn" finally available for download and testing with Plasma 4 desktop and KDE 4.14. The Plasma 4 desktop is recommended by Kubuntu community which runs software with which you are familiar and also provides updates and bug fixes but no new features are included in Plasma 4 desktop.

This release also provides Plasma 5 desktop packages which allows you to upgrade Plasma 4 to Plasma 5. The developers are still working on Plasma 5 desktop and provides updates for it at a regular interval. Apart from Plasma desktop, the second beta release of Kubuntu 14.10 also includes final KDE 4.14 Applications and Platform with several bug fixes. The development team also publishes some of the known issues of Kubuntu 14.10 Beta 2 "Utopic Unicorn" such as no install icon on desktop, ubiquity-dm does not allow alive desktop on live system, permission issue, no web browser in app menu, khelpcenter docs misses any themeing, plasma5 phonon kcm misses icons and no sddm kcm.
