Linux Mint Debain 2 will be codename as "Betsy" & will be based on Debian 8


Linux Mint developers officially announces that the upcoming Debian based Linux Mint distro will be codenamed as "Besty". As you know that it was earlier announces that Linux Mint Debian (LMDE) is switching to Debian stable and frozen cycle quite similar to Linux Mint.

According to official announcement, the upcoming Linux Mint Debian (LMDE) will be the second version and also codenamed as "Betsy" which will be using Debian 8 "Jessie" packagaes as its base packages. Recently, the team is planning to adapt to new LMDE and setting its repositories and also porting various packages on to it. Also, review recent Linux Distro News to know what's new in them ?

The team also announces that they are targeting a stable release by the end of November, 2014 along with official upgrade path from UP8 to Betsy. The beta testing information will also be released in the month of November. It will take quite a while to get the stable status to Linux Mint Debian distro.
