Calibre 1.42 released with Support to add Covers to Books & Bug Fixes


Calibre team officially announces the release of Calibre 1.42 with several new features along with minor bug fixes. According to official announcement, Calibre 1.42 comes with new tool which allows you to add a cover to the book. It automatically generates HTML wrapper and takes care of marking the covers files as covers in the OPF. This release also improves the performance of inline spell checking especially noticeable when editing large HTML files.

Calibre 1.42 also includes addition of a check for HTML files with non UTF-8 encoding declarations. A new function is added in template language to use grouping regular expressions with group where you can replace the matched groups with result of another template.

Apart from these new features, Calibre 1.42 also includes minor bug fixes like fix of integration with ebook.de broken by website changes. The various problems arises when editing EPUB files with non-ascii internal file names on OS X is now fixed in this release.

The unused CSS is removed which automatically fixes the error where an HTML file links to a missing stylesheet. A new news source named as "Economic and Political Weekly" is added by Krittika Goyal where as Deadspin new source is improved in this release.
