GIMP 2.8.12 released with Jenkins Tutorials and Fixes for Core, GUI, Plugins


GIMP development team officially announces the release of GIMP 2.8.12 with new changes in core, GUI, Libgimp, Plug-ins and other minor bug fixes. As you all know that GIMP is a popular image manipulation program which allows you to edit, retouch, resize images.

According to official announcement, GIMP 2.8.12 comes with Jenkins tutorials along with few updates in documentation and translations. It includes fixed brush sizes while using from plug-ins and makes XCF loading more robust against broken files. GIMP for Windows allows to explorer-open files with UTF-8 characters in the filename.

The graphical user interface of GIMP 2.8.12 removes the option to disable the warning when closing a modified image. It make sure that the widget direction matches the GUI language. GIMP 2.8.12 makes script-fu-server more secure by listening to 127.0.0.1 by default and add a warning about changing that IP. This breaks the procedure's API, but for security reasons. It also brings back proper script-fu translations. It also makes gimp_image_get_name() return the string used for image title.
