Linux celebrates its 25th Happy Anniversary with Linus Torvalds

Today Linux is celebrating its 25th anniversary with Linus Torvalds who is responsible for inventing Linux project which is now one of the biggest collaborative endeavor in entire World. From last 25 years, Linux making its contribution in various segments and is used for both commercial and personal usage. The entire credit goes to Linus Torvalds who invented such an extraordinary project which is used by everyone at no costs.

Twenty Five years ago in 1991, Linus Torvalds wanted to design a free and open source operating system which might not be as big as GNU Linux. On 25th August, 1991, Linus sent a official email in which he asked help for testing his own operating system and today he still send mails on every Linux releas. The last 25 years of Linux made a history in the computing world because after 25 years Linux become one of the successful operating system with wide usage for multiple operations.

Linus Torvalds sent an email on 25th August, 1991 about testing of his own operating system. He wrote, "I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones.  This has been brewing since april, and is starting to get ready.  I'd like any feedback on things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat (same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons) among other things)".

"I've currently ported bash(1.08) and gcc(1.40), and things seem to work.  This implies that I'll get something practical within a few months, and I'd like to know what features most people would want.  Any suggestions are welcome, but I won't promise I'll implement them. PS. Yes - it's free of any minix code, and it has a multi-threaded fs. It is NOT portable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that's all I have".

Today, there is no technology where Linux operating system is not used. If you look at your daily appliances like Phones, TVs, fridges, minicomputers, consoles, tablets and micro chips, they all run on Linux operating system in some manner. We the Linux users give our heartiest thanks to Linus Torvalds and wishing a very happy 25th birthday to Linux operating system.
