Linus Torvalds announces release of Kernel 3.18 & Opens Merge Window for Kernel 3.19

Linus Torvalds officially announces the release of Linux Kernel 3.18 final release with all the combine fixes of previous release candidates. The previous 3.18 RC7 was tiny, so Linus finally releases the final version of Kernel 3.18. Well this release might not contain any new feature but all the features which were mentioned in previous release candidates of Kernel 3.18 series.

Linus in his official announcement state that, "I'd love to say that we've figured out the problem that plagues 3.17 for a couple of people, but we haven't. At the same time, there's absolutely no point in having everybody else twiddling their thumbs when a couple of people are actively trying to bisect an older issue, so holding up the release just didn't make sense. Especially since that would just have then held things up entirely over the holiday break". Also, review recent Kernel News to know what has happened in Kernel 3.18 series till now ?

With the release of Kernel 3.18, Linus also announces the development window of Kernel 3.19 and also hopes that DaveJ might get his bisection done as quickly as possible.
