How to Install Audacious 3.5 Music Player via PPA on Ubuntu, Debian & Linux Mint


Audacious is a free and open source music player which is the decendant of XMMS player. Like any other Music Player, Audacious music player allows you to drag and drop folders and individual song files, search for artists and albums in your entire music library. You can also create or edit your own custom playlists and also listen to CD's or music stream from internet. This player runs on various Linux Distros, BSDs and Microsoft Windows platforms. In today's HowTo Tutorial, we will discuss how to install Audacious 3.5 Music Player on Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and other Debian based Linux Distros.

Step Wise Installation of Audacious 3.5 Music Player using PPA on Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and other Debian based Linux Distros

Step 1 : Open the terminal and run or copy the following command in terminal to add PPA for Audacious 3.5 Music Player on your Debian based Linux Distros.
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
Step 2 : Next, run or copy the following command in terminal to update recently added PPA for Audacious 3.5 in the software repository on your Debian based Linux Distros.
$ sudo apt-get update
Step 3 : Finally, run or copy the following command in terminal to install Audacious 3.5 Music Player and its plugins on your Debian based Linux Distros.
$ sudo apt-get install audacious audacious-plugins
After installation, search for "Audacious" either in Unity Dash or in Application menu. Launch Audacious Music Player and play your favorite track in this player.
