Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" MATE available for Download with Compiz Tool Support
Linux Mint development team officially announces the release of stable Linux Mint 17.1 codenamed "Rebecca" MATE flavor for download and now available for testing purposes. As its name suggest that this contains MATE Destkop as its default Desktop Environment whereas it also available in Cinnamon Desktop flavor too.
According to official announcement, Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" MATE comes with long term support which has active support till 2019. It comes with updated software and also brings refinements which allows its users to make their desktops even more comfortable to use. The main highlighted feature of this release includes support for Compiz program which is quite popular among Linux users.
The Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" MATE offers default two window managers named as: Marco and Compiz tool. Well there are lot of window managers available for Linux Mint but Compiz is one of the famous among Linux users because it offers features which are quite attractive and advanced graphics concepts. The rotating cube desktop view in Compiz make it one of the most impressive tool and differentiate with other available window managers. Linux Mint 17.1 officially codenamed as "Rebecca" & has same base as of "Qiana"
Linux Mint development team officially announces that the Linux Mint 17.1 will be codenamed as "Rebecca". Before giving the codename to Mint 17.1 series, it wasn't easy to find a codename starting with Q initially and with the move to LTS it's getting harder and harder as the series might get a total of 4 or more releases.
According to official announcement, Linux Mint 17.1 will be codenamed as "Rebecca". Well the codenames of Mint 17.1 series already breaks the current Mint naming tradition because the traditional Mint series is codenamed with starting letter "Q" where as the developers are thinking to code naming the Mint 17.1 series with starting letter "R". Many of you might thinking that why the development team naming this release as "Rebecca". Well, Rebecca word comes from Hebrew origin which originally means "to bind". This name was borne in the Bible by the wife of Isaac. This particular name was also famous since 1938 by the book from Daphne du Maurier entitled "Rebecca" and adapted into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940. Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon & MATE flavor OEM Images are available for Download
Linux Mint development team officially announces the release of OEM Images of Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecaa" both in Cinnamon and MATE Desktop flavor. Well as you know that the OEM images are especially designed for computer vendors and manufacturers. These OEM Images allows Linux Mint to be "pre-installed" on a machine which is then used by another person than the one who performed the installation.
According to official announcement, OEM images of Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecaa" in Cinnamon and MATE flavors available for download which you can download the links given below. If you don't want to download then you could also upgrade your existing Mint to newer one. There are lot of improvements and changes are made in Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" edition. First download the OEM images of either one of the flavor including Cinnamon and MATE Desktop then install it on your machine. After OEM installation, the computer is set in such as way that the next reboot features a small setup screen where the new user has the ability to choose his username, password, keyboard layout and locale.
