Skype 4.3 for Linux released with Updated UI, PulseAudio 4.0 & Group Chat
Ubuntu team officially announces the availability of Skype 4.3 PPA for Ubuntu variants. This release includes new features as well as minor bug fixes. As you know that Skype is now owned by Microsoft and they still provides updates for Skype for Linux distros.
Skype for Linux allows you to do low cost calls and text messages to mobiles and landlines. You can also do video calls to your contacts and access free instant messages to your friends, family and colleagues. You can download latest Skype for your Linux Distro or install it via PPAs.
According to official announcement, it is officially confirmed that Skype 4.3 PPA is now for Ubuntu variants. The Skype 4.3 for Linux comes with an updated UI along with support for PulseAudio 3.0 and 4.0. This release provides new cloud-based Group Chat experience and provides more reliable file transfer support while using multiple devices at a time.
Apart from this, Skype 4.3 for Linux also offered greater accessibility to blind and visually impaired users. Earlier this release was not available in PPA repositories and now developers put an update PPA for Skype 4.3 in the repository, so that any one can use it and install it on latest Ubuntu variants. Skype 2.21 for Windows Phone 8.1 & 8 receives Photo Sharing Support
Skype development team officially announces the release of updated Skype 2.21 App for Windows Phone 8.1 and 8 devices. From past few months, the developers are working to enhance the user chat experience which includes improving push notifications and synchronising read messages across devices.
According to official announcement, this updated Skype 2.21 App for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 receives support for picture or photo sharing. Well this feature was quite in demand from past few months and developers consistently working on it and finally they have released it for Windows Phone devices. This feature allows you to send photos to your friends and family even when they are offline.
The main highlighted feature of Skype 2.21 App is its capability to send photos to one or more contacts and also receive photos from friends and family who uses iPhone, Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 devices. If you share a photo among your friends and if they use different platform than yours then they will receive URL link to open the pictures. Cheese 3.13.1 Webcam App released with Updated Potfiles.in & Bug Fixes
Cheese development team officially announces the release of Cheese 3.13.1 webcam app with several bug fixes. Cheese is one of the famous webcam applications which is primarily used for taking photos and having live video chats on your GNOME desktops.
According to official announcement, Cheese 3.13.1 webcam app comes with updated POTFILES.in file and uses traditional title bar when requested. Not all the environments desire header bars. We use the 'gtk-shell-shows-menubar' setting to decide whether to use the header bar. The desktop file is renamed as AppData and GResource XML in line are renamed in desktop file.
Cheese 3.13.1 depends on Automake 1.12 for test-driver support. This release also inhibit user switching and session idle and stop running action when an error occurs. This release allows application to be D-Bus activated by running with the --gapplication-service argument and also removes old maintainers from DOAP file.
