WinRAR 5.11 Archiver released with Support for TAR Archives & Bug Fixes


RARLab officially announces the release of WinRAR 5.11 with new changes and several bug fixes. Lot of Windows users uses WinRAR software as extracting and compressing tool. Like other archivers, WinRAR also used to compress the size of files or folders and also decompress them to their original size. It convert major formats like RAR, WIP and TAR from one form to another.

According to official announcement, WinRAR 5.11 comes with support for TAR archives which means you can now extract TAR archives containing folders with pax extended headers, earlier it wasn't possible to extract TAR archives via WinRAR program. The "Keep broken files" extraction option is also supported for 7-Zip archives.

Apart from these new changes, WinRAR 5.11 also includes several bug fixes which were reported since WinRAR 5.10 release. The bugs which are reported since WinRAR 5.10 release includes ZIP archive created with "Do not store paths" option included unnecessary empty name records for folders, archived files could I have 1 hour modification time error in Windows XP and deleting a file in RAR5 solid archive containing files stored with -ver switch caused such files to lose version information.
