Wine 1.7.32 released with New Mono Engine, Improved DirectWrite & Other Fixes

Allexandre Julliard, developers at WineHQ, officially announces the release of Wine 1.7.32 with new improvements and several bugfixes of previous releases. Well this is the another maintenance release, ranked 32nd in 1.7.x series. As you know that Wine is a program which allows you to run Windows applications in Linux and Mac systems.

According to official announcement, Wine 1.7.32 comes with new version of Mono engine and improved support for restoring display mode. It also includes few more functions implemented in MSHTML, font metrics improvements in DirectWrite and several other bugfixes. The City of Heroes game which earlier doesn't run if asked to use a dual core processor is fixed in this release. You can also download the source tarball of Wine 1.7.32 to compile it on your Linux Distros.

Among other major bugfixes, Wine 1.7.32 includes fixes for 3D graphics in Chessmaster 11 which are positioned incorrectly, every extend music does not play and IE7 crashes when an active X control is called. This release also includes fixes for Windows games like Demise, Dungeon Keeper 2 game, SolidWorks 2007, Mall Tycoon 2 Deluxe, WWIIOnline, Flux Family Secrets and NFS Porsche. List of Bugfixes Made in Wine 1.7.32


- Multiple applications crash on unimplemented function USER32.dll.SetGestureConfig (Solitaire from Windows 7, Illustrator CC).
- The Master Genealogist 8.xx: Can't install because Installer buttons do not work.
- Futuremark 3DMark Vantage v1.1.0 crashes on start up.
- Opera: wine uses builtin save file dialog, fails to save file.
- Visual Studio 2010 fails on startup, .NET Framework 4.0 WPF message dispatcher unexpectedly receives messages (CoWaitForMultipleHandles, COWAIT_FLAGS, message pump).
- Directory Opus 10 locks up and crashes.
- Adobe CS4 installer fails (COM class factory for CLSID_NetFwOpenPort needed).
- Cabri II Plus 1.4 fails on startup.
- Microsoft Visual Studio Test Agent 2010 Configuration Tool crash when apply settings is performed.
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Applications installer crashes.
- iTunes 10.2.2 'DifXInstall32' sub-installer crashes on unimplemented function DIFXAPI.dll.SetDifxLogCallbackW.
- Open file window makes Photoshop CC crash.
- Adobe Photoshop CC file open dialog crashes the program.
- valgrind shows a leak in comdlg32/tests/printdlg.c.
- Mass Effect 3 [Origin] crash on startup (broken EA Origins in-game overlay/hook engine 'igo32.dll' needs 'opengl32.dll' prelinked < 2GB address range).
- Photoshop CC 2014 Open and Save dialog missing features.
- Set iframe's src failed.
- "We got a big error here" in Diablo 2 d2loader and wine >= 1.7.25.

Code Editor, Light Table 0.7.0 released with Node-WebKit Support & Numerous Fixes

Light Table developers officially announces the release of Light Table 0.7.0 with new features and fixes. Well this is the stable release where as Light Table 0.7.2 and 0.7.1 are development release. From this release, Light Table moved to MIT License and removes plugin server and use Gitghub as plugin-metadata repository.

According to official announcement, Light Table 0.7.0 comes with latest node-webkit which is able to track nw's progress directly since the menu changes made it upstream. All the plugin metadata is now hosted on github which means asking to remove/rename/change urls etc for plugins is just a matter of sending a PR.

The developers also changed the syntax of behavior and keymap files to make them much easier to both read and share. The users have no more hunt down the right place to paster some behavior you've copied from someone else. Other miscellaneous changes and fixes includes addition of new flat syntax for behaviors and keymaps which allows much better copying and pasting. Wine 1.7.33 released with Copy/Paste Support in MSHTML & Other Game Fixes

Alexandre Julliard, developer at Wine, officially announces the release of Wine 1.7.33 with minor new changes and several bugfixes. This is the 33rd maintenance release under 1.7.x series and contains only 29 bugfixes which is much less than the previous Wine 1.7.32 release. As you know that Wine software creates a compatibility layer between Windows and Linux which allows you to run Windows applications on Linux and Mac.

According to official announcement, Wine 1.7.33 comes with support for copy/paste commands in MSHTML along with several more API sets DLLs. This release includes better handling for loss of focus in Direct3D windows and some more font support in DirectWrite along with several bugfixes. The issue where you cannot paste text into wine iexplorer.exe when browsing is fixed. You can also download the source tarball of Wine 1.7.33 to build or compile it on your Linux machine.

Like usual game fixes, Wine 1.7.33 also includes fixes for some Windows based video games like Starcraft II, Ableton Live 9.1, Gears of War, Age of Wushu and Path Exile. The issue of OriginPro 8 freezes in new installation of Wine after Lion->Mavericks upgrade is now fixed in this release. We have also enlisted some of the fixes below in this post. List of Bugfixes Made in Wine 1.7.33

- Ableton Live 9.1 crashes, needs MFReadWrite.dll.
- Gears of War fails on startup, reporting 'binkw32.dll: You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall the game.
- Application ArdourXchange will not run in Wine.
- Age of Wushu: frequent display of in-game "Don't speed up!" dialog tip disrupts gameplay (Wine fails kernel32.GetTickCount API entry hook check).
- TM.exe crashes at a certain time and native usp10 fixes it.
- IWinHttpRequest::Send returns immediately even when in synchronous mode.
- Winhttprequest authentication doesn't work anymore.
- Reason needs MFPlat.DLL and MFReadWrite.dll.
- valgrind shows a few uninitialized variables in riched20/tests/editor.c (test_EM_FINDWORDBREAK_A).
- Visual C++ 2005 Express SP1 installer displays in French instead of English.
- Path of Exile: Graphical Glitches with GLSL Disabled.
- Sketchup 2015 fails on unimplemented function SHELL32.dll.SHAssocEnumHandlers.
- Explicit environment variables passed to spawn/exec are corrupted.
- valgrind shows a definite leak in comctl32/tests/imagelist.c.
- Puritan Hard Drive (PHD) KnowledgeBase Demo crashes on startup.
- Propellerhead Reason 8 needs kernel32.GetUserPreferredUILanguages.

Mozilla Firefox 33 Beta available with OMTC, New CSP & OpenH264 Support


Mozilla Foundation officially announces the release of Firefox 33.0 beta with several new features along with minor known issues. Well as you know that currently Firefox 32 branch is available and now developers decided to move towards another beta branch with new features. Whatever changes they have proposed in this beta release are available for all platforms including Linux, Windows and Mac.

According to official announcement, Mozilla Firefox 33.0 Beta comes with enhanced tiles, continued experimentation with WebRTC-powered communications feature and new CSP (Content Security Policy) backend. This release also support OpenH264, improved reliability of session restoration, improved search experience through location bar and support for connecting to HTTP proxy over HTTPS.

Among other new features, Mozilla Firefox 33 Beta includes new Azerbaijani locale with OMTC enabled support for Windows, and slimmer and faster JavaScript strings. The proprietary window.crypto properties/functions are removed from this release along with removed JSD (JavaScript Debugger Service) in favor of Debugger Interface.

The HTML5 support of Firefox 32 also recieves some modifications in WebCrypto like support for RSA-OAEP, RBKDF2 and AES-KW, wrapKey and unwrapKey implemented and Import/export of JWK-formatted keys. The modified HTML5 also includes implementation of @counter-style rule from CSS3 Counter Styles specification. You can also review complete list of changes made in Firefox 33 beta browser.

From developers point of view, Firefox 33 beta brings cubic bezier curves editor, display which elements have listeners attached, paint flashing for browser content repaints, editable @keyframes rules in Rules section of Inspector and CSS transform highlighter in the style-inspector. FrostWire developers officially announces the release of FrostWire 5.7.7 torrent client with several bug fixes and minor new features. Like several torrent client, FrostWire is multi-purpose Bittorrent client which allows its users to download torrent files and also allows them to play audio and video files in FrostWire.

According to official announcement, FrostWire 5.7.7 torrent client comes with new VPN connection status indicator and also stops media playback by long pressing play/pause button. This release also updates MigLayout source code to version 4.0. It also fixes bug where files couldn't be played wih main player button and fixes a bug where speaker icon on library would still show after media player had stopped.

The bug of FrostWire 5.7.5 in which buttons of Create Torrent dialog were not visible unless the window was resized is now fixed in this release. Among other fixes, FrostWire 5.7.7 includes fixed issue on Linux when player window pixel translucency could not be set, fixed Null Pointer Exception when trying to shutdown and hide an MPlayerWindow that may have not been instantiated and fixes issue where user could not create new playlist by dropping songs from existing playlist into 'New Playlist; list item in the library. Lightworks team officially announces the release of Lightworks 12 for all platforms including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Well this release is special because the development team has provided Lightworks for Mac users, so that they can also access the new features and services of Lightworks on Mac machines. As you all know that, Lightworks is a professional non-linear video edition software which allows you to edit videos.

According to official announcement, Lightworks 12 provides the same experience on all three platforms along with addition of powerful new Colour Correction effect and powerful new Selective Colour Correction effect. The entire Lightworks Play engine is rewritten to improve playback performance. This release also includes improvements to export panel to make it easier to select a format for export.

The latest Lightworks 12 also includes new Content Manager structure which further includes several new features like multicam bins now all visible within the content manager, search function has been incorporated into the content manager, addition of clips, subclips, prints, syncs, edits, searches and recent filters to content manager.

The Content Manager structure also includes ability to create and edit filters, ability to create filters based on search criteria and manage them, ability to drag/drop files from the OS directly into an open bin and ability to import directly into an existing bin. Opera developers officially the release of stable Opera 26 web browser with new features along with minor improvements and fixes. The current stable Opera 26 browser is now available for all platforms including Windows, Mac and Linux Distros. The main highlighted feature for this updated stable release are improvements in bookmarks and import bookmarks from other browsers.

According to official announcement, Opera 26 Web Browser comes with bookmark option which allows you to share bookmarks the way you like. To share bookmarks, all you have to do is to select few links or entire bookmark folder and then click on "Share" button. After clicking on Share, copy the link and paste it to email, chat or social network of your choice and your bookmarks will be shared easily among your close ones.
