Wine 1.7.33 released with Copy/Paste Support in MSHTML & Other Game Fixes

Alexandre Julliard, developer at Wine, officially announces the release of Wine 1.7.33 with minor new changes and several bugfixes. This is the 33rd maintenance release under 1.7.x series and contains only 29 bugfixes which is much less than the previous Wine 1.7.32 release. As you know that Wine software creates a compatibility layer between Windows and Linux which allows you to run Windows applications on Linux and Mac.

According to official announcement, Wine 1.7.33 comes with support for copy/paste commands in MSHTML along with several more API sets DLLs. This release includes better handling for loss of focus in Direct3D windows and some more font support in DirectWrite along with several bugfixes. The issue where you cannot paste text into wine iexplorer.exe when browsing is fixed. You can also download the source tarball of Wine 1.7.33 to build or compile it on your Linux machine.

Like usual game fixes, Wine 1.7.33 also includes fixes for some Windows based video games like Starcraft II, Ableton Live 9.1, Gears of War, Age of Wushu and Path Exile. The issue of OriginPro 8 freezes in new installation of Wine after Lion->Mavericks upgrade is now fixed in this release. We have also enlisted some of the fixes below in this post. List of Bugfixes Made in Wine 1.7.33

- Ableton Live 9.1 crashes, needs MFReadWrite.dll.
- Gears of War fails on startup, reporting 'binkw32.dll: You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall the game.
- Application ArdourXchange will not run in Wine.
- Age of Wushu: frequent display of in-game "Don't speed up!" dialog tip disrupts gameplay (Wine fails kernel32.GetTickCount API entry hook check).
- TM.exe crashes at a certain time and native usp10 fixes it.
- IWinHttpRequest::Send returns immediately even when in synchronous mode.
- Winhttprequest authentication doesn't work anymore.
- Reason needs MFPlat.DLL and MFReadWrite.dll.
- valgrind shows a few uninitialized variables in riched20/tests/editor.c (test_EM_FINDWORDBREAK_A).
- Visual C++ 2005 Express SP1 installer displays in French instead of English.
- Path of Exile: Graphical Glitches with GLSL Disabled.
- Sketchup 2015 fails on unimplemented function SHELL32.dll.SHAssocEnumHandlers.
- Explicit environment variables passed to spawn/exec are corrupted.
- valgrind shows a definite leak in comctl32/tests/imagelist.c.
- Puritan Hard Drive (PHD) KnowledgeBase Demo crashes on startup.
- Propellerhead Reason 8 needs kernel32.GetUserPreferredUILanguages.
