NVIDIA 343.22 Driver for Linux released with New GPUs Support & Bug Fixes


NVIDIA developers officially announces the release of NVIDIA 343.22 driver for Linux with few new additions along with several bug fixes. Well this is another maintenance release under 343 series which primarily includes several bug fixes along with new changes.

According to official announcement, NVIDIA 343.22 comes with support for GPUs like GeForce GTX 970 and GeForce GTX 980. It also includes a new attribute to NV-CONTROL API to query the current utilization of the video decode engine along with addition of support for multiple simultaneous EGL displays.

The NVIDIA 343.22 worked around a Unigine Heaven 3.0 shader bug which may causes corruption when tessellation is enabled by implementing an application profile that uses the "GLignoreGLSLExtReqs" settings. Apart from these new additions, it also comes with bug fixes like fixed bug which prevented the "sync to vblank" setting from being honored for EGL applications.

It also fixes a bug which causes disabled displays to be implicitly included in the target selection for some queries and assignments on the nvidia-settings command line interface in the absence of any explicit target selection. It fixes a bug where the Exchange Stereo Eyes settings in nvidia-settings didn't work in certain stereo configurations. You can also download the NVIDIA 343.22 Driver for Linux Distros.

NVIDIA 343.22 driver for Linux also removes support for G8x, G9x and GT2xx GPUs and motherboard chipsets based on them. NVIDIA 340.46 Driver for Linux Updated with New Option & Minor Bug fixes

NVIDIA developers officially announces the release of NVIDIA 340.46 driver for all Linux Distro with minor bug fixes and few new additions. There are lot of development branches of NVIDIA drivers for Linux system and this release comes under Long Lived branch. Soon this release will be updated to repositories of various Linux Distros.

According to official announcement, NVIDIA 340.46 driver for Linux comes with new option UseSysmemPixmapAccel to control the use of GPU acceleration for X drawing operations on pixmaps allocated in system memory. It also fixes a bug which could prevent the GLSL compiler from correctly evaluating some expressions when compiling shaders. You can also download NVIDIA 340.46 Driver for Linux distros.

The NVIDIA 340.46 driver for Linux also includes fixed OpenGL issue which causes glReadPixels() operations to be improperly clipped when resizing composited application windows, potentially leading to momentary X freezes and fixed a bug which causes nvidia-installer to crash while attempting to run nvidia-xconfig on systems where that utility is missing. AMD Catalyst 14.9 Linux Driver receives Radeon R8 285 Support & few Fixes


AMD Developers officially announces the release of new AMD Catalyst 14.9 Linux driver for new changes and minor bug fixes. After a long period of time, the AMD community has updated to newer version. Well this release provides better functionality than other open source drivers. Like earlier, thi time also AMD doesn't provide any release notes for this release.

According to one of the announcement at Softpedia, AMD Catalyst 14.9 Linux driver comes with support for latest AMD Radeon R9 285 but also compatible with R9 290, R9 270, R7 260 series and HD 5000 series. Currently, this catalyst 14.9 driver is supported by various Linux distros including Red Hat Enterprise Linux Suite 7.0 and 6.5, SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP3, OpenSUSE 13.1 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

The new AMD Catalyst 14.9 Linux driver is dependent on various dependencies such as Xorg/Xserver 7.4 and above, Linux Kernel 2.6 and above, glic 2.2 or 2.3 and POSIX Shared Memory which is required for 3D applications. Apart from this, this driver also includes fixes for Witcher 2, Motion Builder, ETQW and few OpenGL programs.
