Wine 1.7.28 released with Compilation Support for JavaScript & Other Fixes

Alexandre Julliard, developer at Wine, officially announces the release of Wine 1.7.28 with few improvements and fixes for Windows games for Linux. This is another development version under 1.7.x series which mainly includes total 21 fixes since Wine 1.7.27 release. This release doesn't include any new feature but provides fixes for few Windows applications and games.

According to official announcement, Wine 1.7.28 comes with support for conditional compilation in JavaScript, Bidirectional text support in DirectWrite, stubs for DirectPlay Voice support and several bug fixes. It also fixes steam crashes using ALSA, QuickBooks Premier 2011 crash on start, native dxdiag crashes with builtin quartz. We have also enlisted some of the bug fixes below in this post. Among other bug fixes, Wine 1.7.28 includes fixes like different paper size enumerations between cloned printers, ApexDC fails to do file operations, Baltie educational programming language does not run. This release also includes fixes for applications like FileMaker Pro 11, Irfan view, CDBurnerXP 3.0, Rhapsody 4.0, SolidWorks 2014 installer and ToDoList 6.9.b12. List of Bug Fixes Made in Wine 1.7.28

- Segfault when trying to run Direct3D or OpenGL apps.
- Built in IE - U-Haul dealer network Point of Sale page unusable.
- Rhapsody 4.0 crashes on startup.
- SolidWorks 2014 installer needs ieframe IWebBrowser2::Refresh2.
- ToDoList 6.9.b12 (MFC app) crashes when deleting a task.
- Multiple applications/games fail to start with WinVer set to 'Windows 7' (FindFirstFileExW needs FIND_FIRST_EX_LARGE_FETCH support)(FotoQuelle Fotosoftware v4.13, QT5).
- Pale Moon Portable 24.7.x fails on startup, reporting "Couldn't load XPCOM" (needs msvcp110.dll '?_BADOFF@std@@3_JB' also exported for 32-bit arch).
- biet-o-matic 2.14.12: Crashes when past eBay item number with context menu.
