Video Decoder & Encoder, FFmpeg 2.3.1 receives Updates for Packages


FFmpeg team officially announces the release of FFmpeg 2.3.1 with minor new changes and fixes. This is another maintenance release under the 2.3.x series and contains fixed issues which were reported in previous releases. As you know that FFmpeg is one of the famous multimedia frameworks which allows you to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, steam and filter any media files.

According to official announcement, FFmpeg 2.3.1 includes all changes from ffmpeg-mt, libav master and libav. The official statement state that "2.3.1 was released on 2014-07-31. It is the latest stable FFmpeg release from the 2.3 release branch, which was cut from master on 2014-07-16. Amongst lots of other changes, it includes all changes from ffmpeg-mt, libav master of 2014-07-15, libav 10.2 as of 2014-07-15". You can also download the source tarball of FFmpeg 2.3.1 for your Linux Distros.

The major objective of this release is to provide some of updated packages. The packages which are updated in this release includes libavutil, libavformat, libavcodec, libavdevice, libavfilter, libswscale, libswresample and libpostproc.
