How to Install SoundConverter 2.1.4 (Audio File Converter) on Ubuntu 14.10

SoundConverter developers officially announces the release of SoundConverter 2.1.4 with minor bugfixes. SoundConverter is considered as one of the leading audio file converter for GNOME Desktop which works on GStreamer. It is used to convert GStreamer formats into other formats like Opus, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, AAC and MP3 files.

According to official announcement, SoundConverter 2.1.4 comes with fixed Ubuntu automatic plugin installation forever-loop by ignoring video codecs and also fixes converting multiple folders containing the same filenames as the same temporary files were created. In today's HowTo Tutorial, we will discuss how to install SoundConverter 2.1.4 using Debian repository on Ubuntu 14.10. Well the following command can also work on Ubuntu 14.10 derivatives but may not on Ubuntu 14.04 derivatives. If you want to then do it at your own risk.

Step Wise Installation of SoundConverter 2.1.4 (Audio File Converter) using Debian repository on Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn)

Step 1 : Before beginning the installation, Open the terminal and run or copy the following command in terminal to copy the repo url in sources.list file on your Ubuntu 14.10 system.
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu utopic-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'
Step 2 : Next, run or copy the following command in terminal to download archive key and add it using wget command on your Ubuntu 14.10 system.
$ wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
Step 3 : Next, run or copy the following command in terminal to update recently added repository for SoundConverter on your Ubuntu 14.10 system.
$ sudo apt-get update
Step 4 : Finally, run or copy the following command in terminal to install latest stable SoundConverter 2.1.4 on your Ubuntu 14.10 system.
$ sudo apt-get install soundconverter
After installation, search for "SoundConverter" in Unity Dash and then launch it from there to access all the features of SoundConverter on your machine. With the help of SoundConverter, you can easily convert one audio format into other directly on your system.
