Well if some of you ever used Mac OS X then you might know that this concept is taken from Mac OS X but there are lot of Ubuntu users who prefer to use local menus instead of global menus.

According to one of the announcement at Unity, the local menus was already present in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and so does in upcoming Ubuntu 15.04 but with improved display appearance. You will see the local menus of any application until you close it. This release also set LIM as default in Ubuntu 15.04 release.

The commit message of this feature state that "Decorations, Panel: add menus for unfocused windows as well. Now the indicator-appmenu exports the menus for all windows, then it's up to us filter them based on their parent window and show on relevant place".
