Oracle VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 comes with Linux Guest Kernel fixes & Other fixes

Oracle officially announces the release of VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 with several bugfixes and new changes. Well as you can see that this is the beta version which is another maintenance release and primarily available for testing purposes. For Linux users, VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 comes with fix for Linux guest kernels < 2.6.13.

According to official announcement, VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 comes with support for using paravirtualization providers with raw-mode VMs along with some fixes in GUI and VirtualBox APIs. The GUI part of VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 includes encryption passwords no more centered, scaling support will use the old smooth mechanism for the software renderer case and optimized medium enumeration for the large differencing trees.

Among API fixes, VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 includes fixed long-standing issue which caused loss of error information for the VM start operation, fixed too strict condition for changing extradata settings of newly created VMs and fixed too strict condition for creating persistent shared folders. Some of the minor fixes are also made in BIOS such as fix for booting from SCSI CD/DVD media and fix for reads partially beyond end of disk. Other fixes of VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 2 includes USB controller types for given VM are now reflected in VM details page, avoid error message during shutdown of a separate VM, fixed a rare crash when copying over host elements to the guest and fix crash on restoring state on X11 hosts.
