OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 5 released with XBMC 13.2, FFmpeg 2.3.3 & Systemd 216
OpenELEC development team officially announces the release of OpenELEC 4.1.5 which is also known as OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 5 with new features and updated applications. As you know that OpenELEC 4.1.x is the beta series for OpenELEC 4.2 which is primarily available for testing purposes so that stable version of OpenELEC 4.2 will be released.
According to official announcement, OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 5 comes with minor bug fixes, security fixes and few improvements since OpenELEC 4.1.4 distro release. Apart from regular bug fixes, this release includes updated XBMC 13.2 "Gotham" final version along with FFmpeg 2.3.3, Mesa 10.3-RC1 and systemd 216.
The team also fixes crashes while playing FLAC files with ID3v2 tags, optimized some software packages and updated the RaspberryPi firmware to include the last fixes and features. The Raspberry Pi users will find a new MMC/SDCard driver which is available as default in this release. Also, review recent Linux Distro News to know what's new in them ?
The MMC/SDCard driver is now default sdcard driver. It should avoid some of the issues of old driver like polling with interrupts disabled and could improve performance and avoid interfering with other drivers. You can also disable new driver with adding bcm2708.bcm2835_mmc=0 to cmdline.txt. You might also like to check out other latest Software News on our website.
