OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 3 released with Kernel 3.16, XBMC 13.2, FFmpeg 2.3.1 & Mesa 10.2.5


OpenELEC development team officially announces the release of OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 3 with new features and minor bug fixes. As you can see that this is a beta release which contains bug fixes and is available for testing purposes only. The OpenELEC 4.2 will be the next stable release which will be the successor of OpenELEC 4.0 distro.

According to official announcement, OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 3 comes with bug fixes, security fixes and improvements since OpenELEC 4.1.2 release. This release includes several bug fixes which were reported since OpenELEC 4.1.2 release and also includes updated packages like XBMC Gotham 13.2 beta 3, FFmpeg 2.3.1, Linux Kernel 3.16 and Mesa 10.2.5. OpenELEC 4.1 and 4.2 is now based on Linux Kernel 3.16, Mesa 10.2 and Xorg 1.16. Other updates applications of OpenELEC 4.2 Beta 2 includes updated NVIDIA 340.x, systemd-215, connman-1.24 and XBMC Gotham 13.2. The team also switched their libc from eglibc to glibc. They have also provided support for nss-mdns, support to perform filesystem checks on every boot for our both default system partitions. The FFmpeg 2.3 now supports H.265 format.
