KDE Frameworks 5.5.0 released with Updated KDE Apps and Other Improvements

KDE Community officially announces the release of KDE Frameworks 5.5.0 with new addons, improvements and minor fixes in KDE applications. As you know that KDE Frameworks is the collection of 60 addon libraries to Qt which provides a wide variety of commonly needed functionality in mature, peer reviewed and well tested libraries with friendly licensing terms.

According to official announcement, KDE Frameworks 5.5.0 comes with improvements in KDE applications such as Attica, KActivities, KCMUtils, KCodecs, KCompletion, KCoreAddons, KDeclarative, KEmoticons, KHTML, KIO, KJobWidgets, KNewStuff, KNotifications, KRunner, KService, KTextEditor, KWidgetsAddons and KWindowSystem.

The Attica application now uses all of QT_PLUGIN_PATH paths rather than just QLibraryInfo path to look for plugin whereas KActivities received a fixed plugin loading with KDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS ON. The KCodecs introduce KEmailAddress class for email validation, adds KCodecs::encodeRFC2407String() and also uses more robust implementation of MIME codecs taken from KMime library.

The KCoreAddons gets KTextToHTML class for plaintext->HTML conversion, add KPluginMetaData::metaDataFileName() and also allows you to read KPluginMetaData from .desktop files. Other changes in KDE Frameworks 5.5.0 includes fixed compilation with Qt 5.2.0, fixed platformstatus kded module and adds thumbnailAvailable property to PlasmaCore WindowThumbnail.
