Debian 7.6 "Wheezy" available for Download with New Security Updates


Debian community officially announces the release of Debian 7.6 under Debian 7 "Wheezy" series. This is the sixth update under stable Debian 7 "Wheezy" distro. There are nothing new in this release which could uniquely identify it separately than previous versions of Debian 7 release. Also, review other Linux Distro News.

According to official announcement, Debian 7.6 comes with addition of corrections for security problems along with few adjustments for serious problems. The community also published security advisories and available for upgrade for your previous Debian 7.5 release. Some of the major bug fixes are enlisted below.

As you know that this release does not contribute a new version of Debian 7 but only contains updated packages and enhanced version than Debian 7.5 release. If you are using previous Debian 7.5 then you must upgrade your Debian to 7.6 version because it will download whatever new updates available for existing packages. List of Bug Fixes Made in Debian 7.6


- Support ECC keys and ECDH ciphers; mod_proxy: fix crashes under load; mod_dav: fix potential DoS [CVE-2013-6438]; mod_log_config: fix cookie logging.
- Fix cross-site scripting via 403 responses [CVE-2014-4510].
- Automake1.9-nonfree : Add empty prerm to ensure a clean upgrade path in case of install-info removal.
- catfish : Fix regression from previous security update.
- clamav : New upstream release; fix a crash while using clamscan.
- cups : Fix XSS in the CUPS web interface; fix syntax errors in Hungarian templates.
- firebug : Take over xul-ext-firecookie, as firebug now provides all its functionality; remove copyrighted ICC profile.
- openssl : Don't prefer ECDHE_ECDSA with some Safari versions; actually restart the services when restart-without-asking is set.
- openssh : Restore patch to disable OpenSSL version check.
