SparkyLinux team officially announces the release of SparkyLinux 3.5 codename "Annagerman" in MATE, Xfce and Base Openbox & JWM flavors. Like other Debian based distros, SparkyLinux is a lightweighted distro which comes in multiple flavors and used on old machines. This release is based on Debian 8 "Jessie".

According to official announcement, SparkyLinux 3.5 comes with updated Linux Kernel 3.14.2, MATE 1.8.1 desktop, Xfce 4.10.1 desktop, Openbox 3.2.5-7 and JWM 2.1.0. It also includes Custom ISO Builder which allows you to rebuild iso images of SparkyLinux along with Sparky Aptus Extra which allows you to quick installation of additional applications from SparkyLinux repository.

The TrueCrypt has been removed from system and also provides zuluCrypt, as a replacement for TrueCrypt, which offers CLI and GUI front-end for cryptsetup. The team also provides new repository and public keys for applications like virtualbox, liquorix, google earth, google talk plugin and google music manager. Currently, base edition is available in two flavors named as Openbox and JWM. The JWM edition offers traditional desktop preview and uses less amount of power than Openbox. That's why, it is used on old machines. All multimedia packages are removed from Base Editions so both flavors will be codecs free. SparkyLinux team officially announces the release of SparkyLinux 3.4 codenamed "Annagerman" which is available in MATE, Xfce and Base (Openbox) flavors. Well this new updated release includes several new and updated packages along with few improvements. Also, review other recent Linux Distro releases to know what's new in them ?

According to official announcement, SparkyLinux 3.4 "Annagerman" comes with Linux Kernel 3.14, MATE 1.8, Openbox 3.5.2-6 and Xfce 4.10. All the packages of this release are upgraded from Debian testing repositories. This release also provides support for installation on machines with EFI.

The systemd is considered as default init system and new package named "hardinfo" is added in this release. Apart from this, teamviewer 8 is updated to version 9 and menu of Openbox recieves few extra scripts. The main highlighted feature of SparkyLinux 3.4 release is that it includes new applications in SparkyLinux repository. Some of the these new applications includes mintstick, skype 4.3, seamonkey 2.26.1, nightingale 1.12.1 and sparky-live-usb-creator.
