Upstart 1.13 released with New Test, Improved Documentation & Bug Fixes

James Hunt, developer of Upstart, officially announces the release of Upstart 1.13 with new changes and minor bug fixes. As you know that Upstart is an event based replacement for /sbin/init daemon which mainly handles starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them during shutdown and supervising them while system is running.

According to official announcement, Upstart 1.13 comes with new tests and improved documentation. This updated Upstart app allows '--confdir' to look for system jobs in multiple locations which also adds new command-line options '--append-confdir' and '--prepend-confdir' for full flexibility.

This newly version provides support for cgroups via a new 'cgroup' stanza which makes use of cgmanager and also available to both System and Session Inits. It also provides support for cgroups which can be disabled at built time if required. You can also download the source tarball of Upstart 1.13 for your Linux Distros.

Apart from these new features, Upstart 1.13 also includes minor bug fixes like fix for session init umask change on re-exec and fix for handling upgrade from non stateful re-exec instance to a stateful-re-exec capable one. You might also like to check out other latest Software News on our website.
