Ubuntu MATE Beta 1 going to become Official Ubuntu Flavor with New Themes
Ubuntu MATE development team officially announces the release of first beta flavor of Ubuntu MATE distro with new features and updated packages. As you know that in July, Ubuntu MATE already made a request for official flavor status from Ubuntu Technical Board. This is a beta release and currently available for testing purposes.
According to technical board meeting which was happened in early August, it is officially confirmed that the Ubuntu Techincal Board will support Ubuntu MATE after completing some of the formalities which are raised by technical board. According to official announcement, Ubuntu MATE Beta 1 comes wih new themes and addition of specific artwork. The community includes Ubuntu MATE wallpapers, LightDM theme, Plymouth theme and new desktop theme in this release. Apart from these new theme, this release also includes minor improvements like desktop policy privilege fixes, meta package improvements and aligning the core packages with other Ubuntu flavors.
The Ubuntu MATE Beta 1 also contains few issues related with Plymouth and minimizing Chrome or Chromium. This release comes with two new themes named as Ambiant MATE and Radiant MATE. The developers are planning to replace folder icons in these new themes with ones which uses MATE green as the base color for folders.
