How to Install Pithos 1.0.1 (Pandora Client) via PPA on Ubuntu & Linux Mint

Pithos is basically a Pandora Radio client available for Linux Distros which is much more lightweighted than Pandora.com web client and integrates with desktop features such as media keys, notifications and sound menu.

The latest Pithos 1.0.1 client comes with new features like save window position between sessions, fix saving last station on quit, fix pacparser support, improve pandora module docs, add setup.py command to build docs, add appdata file, improve Unity support and automatically install missing codecs if supported. The Pithos client offers several key features like swicthing stations, cover art, remembering username and password, notification popup with song info, launching pandora.com song info page and station page, reconnecting when pandora session times out, editing QuickMix, creating stations and media key support.

In today's HowTo Tutorial, we will discuss how to install Pithos 1.0.1 (Pandora Client) using PPA on Ubuntu 14.10, 14.04, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Linux Mint 17 and other PPA based Linux Distros.

Step Wise Installation of Pithos 1.0.1 (Pandora Client) using PPA on Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Linux Mint and other PPA based Linux Distros

Step 1 : Before beginning the installation, Open the terminal and run or copy the following command in terminal to add PPA for Pithos 1.0.1 client on your PPA based Linux Distros.
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pithos/ppa
Step 2 : Next, run or copy the following command in terminal to update recently added PPA for Pithos 1.0.1 client in the software repository on your PPA based Linux Distros.
$ sudo apt-get update
Step 3 : Finally, run or copy the following command in terminal to install latest stable Pithos 1.0.1 client on your PPA based Linux Distros.
$ sudo apt-get install pithos
After installation, search for "Pithos" client either in Unity Dash or in Application menu. Launch it and play your favorite songs using Pithos client.
