FFmpeg 2.5 "Bohr" released with Animated PNG Support & Updated Packages

FFmpeg developers officially announces the release of FFmpeg 2.5 codenamed "Bohr" with new features and minor fixes. FFmpeg video transcoder is officially updated with new features and new additions in libraries. As you know that FFmpeg is a complete software which allows you to record, covert and stream audio and video files directly on your system.

According to official announcement, FFmpeg 2.5 "Bohr" comes with support for AVFoundation screen-grabbing along with support for animated WebP decoding and support for Animated PNG images. Apart from these support for animated formats, it also includes updated library versions such as libavutil 54.15.100, libavcodec 56.13.100, libavformat 56.15.102, libavdevice 56.2.100, libavfilter 5.2.103, libswscale 3.1.101, libswresample 1.1.100 and libpostproc 53.3.100. FFmpeg 2.5 "Bohr" also includes several other exciting features for video streaming including MPEG-DASH fragmenting muxer, HEVC RTP payload muxer and UDP Lite support. The important change in API in this release is the removal of avpriv_dv_frame_profile(2). Among other new features, it includes show_pixel_formats option in ffprobe, codec private options support in ffserver, xBR scaling filter in libavfilter, CAST128 symmetric block cipher, ECB mode in libavutil and visualization support in libpostproc.
