FFmpeg 2.4.2 "Fresnel" officially Integrated in Debian with Updated Libraries


FFmpeg development team officially announces the release of FFmpeg 2.4.2 codename "Fresnel" with new changes and minor bug fixes. As you know that FFmpeg is one of the famous multimedia framework which allows you to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream and filter video files.

According to official announcement, FFmpeg 2.4.2 comes with lot of changes from ffmpeg-mt, libav master of 2014-09-14, libav 11 as of 2014-10-05. This is the latest and most advanced version under FFmpeg 2.4.x series. This release primarily includes updated packages which include libavutil, libavcodec, libavformat, libavdevice, libavfilter, libavresample, libswresample and libpostproc. You can also download the source tarball of FFmpeg 2.4.2 "Fresnel" for your Linux machines.

The development team also state that they have integrated FFmpeg 2.4.2 "Fresnel" as part of Debian unstable branch again but it is not clear whether the packages will be integrated in to Debian testing in time for Jessie release.
