Ebook Management Tool, Calibre 2.3 receives Improved News Sources & Fixes


Calibre developers officially announces the release of Calibre 2.3 with several new features and bug fixes. Among new features, this release also comes with improved new sources like dawn, american thinker, anchorage daily news and financial times. As you know that, Calibre is a software which allows you to convert, edit and view ebooks directly on your system.

According to official announcement, Calibre 2.3 comes with new feature in cover grid where you can dynamically adjust the size of the in memory cover thumbnail cache based on window size to ensure flickr free rendering even on very large screens. When someone try to download books, it shows a popup message telling the user that the books will be added to the calibre library automatically, to help new users understand what is happening. 

This release also try to detect when a chapter has a page break before the start of the chapter's text resulting in a leading blank page and override the page break. Apart from these new features, this release also includes minor bug fixes like fixed regression which causes running in debug mode on OS X to not have a menubar on dock icon.

The Calibre for Mac OS receives fixed restarting of calibre not working if calibre.app is placed in a location with spaces in the path. Among other fixes, it includes fixed author sort field not being marked red initially when the author sort does not match the author due to Qt 5 behavior change and fixed downloading ebook from Project Gutenberg via the builtin browser not working because of changes to Project Gutenberg website.
